上海人，畢業於福建工藝美術學校，福建師範大學歷史系，福建師範大學美術碩士課程。擔任福州工藝美術學校校長長達18年。現為福建閩江大學美術學院院長。 汪天亮的創作具有強烈的色彩張力和視覺質感，這樣的美，是超越國界的。他從歷史吸取智慧，進而將中國傳統文化轉化為符合當代國際文化審美形式；以傳統媒材融合西方抽象表現主義以及中國書法的筆法趣味、水墨的意境哲思，呈現出現代的獨特藝術表現，在大量的黑色、不可測的神祕空間裡，汪天亮以熟悉的書法線條表現個人對於歷史、文明的追溯。 作品曾被中國文化部、中國美術館、桂林美術館、廣東美術館、中央電視台以及台灣、韓國、日本、美國、德國、澳洲等重要文化機構收藏。 作品入編《中國現代美術全集》、《當代中國美術》、《今日中國美術》、《中國當代美術家圖錄》等。出版有《汪天亮現代水墨畫》、《汪天亮漆畫作品集》、《21世紀優秀藝術家畫集》、《汪天亮漆藝》、《赫赫天光 ‧ 大器亮閃》等畫冊。 著述有《福建工藝美術史》、《漆藝脫胎技藝》、《福州漆藝術》等。

1950 born in Shanghai, graduated from Fujian Arts and Crafts School. He has been a principal of Fuzhou Arts and Crafts School for 18 years. He is currently the dean of the Academy of Fine Arts, Minjiang University. Wang’s works have strong color tension and vsual texture. He draws wisdom from history, and turn the Chinese traditional cultures into international aesthetic form; combine with Chinese ink art and western abstract expressionism, created his unique contemporary expression. He traces the history and civilization by calligraphic in his unmeasurable mysterious space. His masterpieces have been collected by the Chinese Ministry of Culture, the National Art Museum of China, the Guilin Art Museum, the Guangdong Art Museum, CCTV, and important cultural institutions such as Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, the United States, Germany, and Australia. 　 He had many works compiled into <Complete Works of Modern Chinese Art>, <Contemporary Chinese Art>, <Chinese Art Today>, and <Catalogue of Chinese Contemporary Artists>. He also published many albums like "Wang Tianliang Modern Ink Painting", "Wang Tianliang Paint Painting Collection", "21st Century Excellent Artists Paintings", "Wang Tianliang Lacquer Art", "Hehe Tianguang‧Big Lights"; and writed the book like "History of Fujian Arts and Crafts", "Art of Decoction of Paint Art", "Art of Fuzhou Paint".
